Balloon Blooming from April 11 to April 13, 2025

One week before Easter, the Blühendes Barock will become even more colorful. This doesn’t only refer to the springtime floral splendor in the gardens around the Residenzschloss; the vibrant Balloon Blooming festival will take place once again.

At its premiere in March 2024, the festival attracted around 20,000 visitors over three days and brought a new world record to Ludwigsburg. An impressive 81 model balloons took off simultaneously, earning a Guinness World Record.

In 2025, the focus will once again be on the imaginatively designed model balloons. Visitors can marvel at numerous special shapes, ranging from penguins to sheep and a variety of cheerful, colorful cartoon characters.

This year, the festival favorites will face serious “competition” from a fleet of colorful large kites and their smaller counterparts.

With the spectacular kites, entirely new protagonists will take to the skies in 2025. They complement the majestically floating model balloons perfectly. The vibrant kites perform lively dances at considerable heights even in stronger winds, when the balloons must pause, creating amazement for both young and old.

Throughout the festival weekend, a variety of live acts will provide entertainment. At the heart of the festival, however, are the model balloon pilots and kite experts, who will showcase their colorful and creatively designed sky motifs on all days of the Balloon Blooming.

While the Easter Garden around Emichsburg, located in a wind-sheltered valley, is ideal for the balloons, the expansive South Garden offers perfect conditions even for kites that require more wind. Visitors can therefore look forward to a swirling, extraordinary welcome as soon as they arrive!

Additionally, the model balloon and kite pilots are happy to introduce visitors to the world of professional ballooning and kite flying and are available to answer questions. Visitors are even allowed to touch the delicate balloon envelopes and kite skins, and the little ones can explore a walk-in balloon envelope.
